Cristián
Martínez García-Huidobro, Attorney
at Law - Managing Partner, Tax & Legal Chile Limitada. Mr.
Martínez studied at Saint George’s College (Holy Cross).
Graduated (LL.B.) from the School of Law, Universidad Diego Portales.
Mr.
Martinez was honored by multinational corporations as one of the
most highly recommended Chilean tax and corporate advisors ("International
Tax Review", London, December, 2002-2003),
working with the largest multinational and local corporations, in
both private and public sectors. He advises companies on direct
and indirect taxes and in the following matters: Corporate and individual's
tax planning; corporate law; M&A; reorganization processes;
foreign investments; tax litigation; expatriates & immigration,
and on the general practice of law (civil law, commercial law, criminal
law, labor law, family law, among other areas).
He coursed a Master
in Tax Planning and Tax Compliance for CPAs, at the School of Economics
and Administration of Universidad de Santiago de Chile. He holds
a Post-graduated program in Tax Law at the same University. He has
attended several tax certificates in Chile and in the US, being
the last ones "Transfer Pricing", "International
Corporate Tax" and "Global Tax Planning & Rules - Asia/Europe
Focus".
Prior to TAX &
LEGAL CHILE, he worked with KPMG at the Legal & Tax Division,
as the IES Country Leader. He also was managing the International
Tax Department and was the local attorney in charge of the Global
Grants Program. During the years 1996-2000, he worked with Ernst
& Young at the Legal & Tax Division, acting as a Tax Planning
Advisor. Before that, he was General Counselor for three local companies
and also was with the Law Firm "Vicuña, Valdés
y Granese".
Mr. Martínez
vast experience in tax matters includes the legal assistance to
1st class multinational corporations, local companies
and individuals. His main area of expertise is legal strategic planning
to achieve client´s projected goals. List of clients available
upon request and subject to client´s authorization.
He has being Professor
on training courses to clients and Post Graduated Programs in Taxation
in certain local universities and institutes. Mr. Martínez
is in fact currently Professor of International Taxation and Tax
Treaties at the Tax Planning Program of Universidad Mayor. He published
articles on important local newspapers and international publications.
Member of the Chilean Bar, International Fiscal Association, Chilean
Tax Institute and Advisor of the Tax Committee of the National Chamber
of Commerce.
